Exquisite Corpse I

November 25th, 2014 § 0 comments § permalink

The first in a series of “creatures” created in a collaboration with my sister, Karen Else, who is a very talented illustrator.

“Exquisite Corpse” also known as exquisite cadaver (from the original French term cadavre exquis) or rotating corpse, is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence.  In this project, each of us created an image relating to a part of the body (head, torso, legs, feet) and sent each other a black and white copy of the bottom 1/4″ of the illustration or photograph which was used as a “starting point” to illustrate the next panel.
